Privacy policy

This policy explains how Websites with Ryan (Ryan Hall, Los Angeles, California) handles information on this website, including inquiries, third-party content and optional analytics.

What I collect

Information you give me

When you send the project form, I receive what you type:

• Your name and email address
• Your current website address, if you add it
• Your message, including any project notes from the price planner (the services you picked, the ballpark estimate, and your business name if you wrote it)

The price planner itself runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you tap is sent anywhere until you choose to send the form.

Information collected automatically

Like every website, the company that hosts this site (Netlify) keeps standard server logs, which can include your IP address, browser type and the pages you requested. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running. I don’t use them to identify you.

Google Analytics is optional and stays off until you accept analytics cookies. I do not use advertising pixels or fingerprinting tools. Third-party content described below may use its own cookies or analytics.

Optional Google Analytics

With your permission, I use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use this website. The Google tag does not load or send Analytics requests until you choose “Accept analytics.” Declining does not affect the website.

After you accept, Google may receive page views, referring website origins, device and browser information, approximate location and cookie identifiers. Query strings, URL fragments and referring-page paths are removed from the page information this site supplies. Inquiry names, email addresses, messages and price-planner selections are not sent to Analytics by this site. Enhanced measurement, including automatic form tracking, is turned off.

This setup measures website usage. Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled in the site’s tag configuration. User and event data retention is set to 2 months, without resetting user retention on new activity; most aggregated reports are not affected by this setting. Analytics cookies are configured with a 180-day expiration. Google processes the information to provide reports.

Your analytics choice is stored in your browser’s local storage for up to 180 days. Use “Cookie settings” in the footer to change it. Withdrawing consent stops future collection and removes this site’s accessible Google Analytics cookies; it does not erase information already collected by Google. Global Privacy Control or a Do Not Track signal keeps this site’s Analytics off.

Live project previews and other external content

The portfolio contains interactive previews of Lightbender, Caitlin Byk and Impact Lab. These are embedded third-party websites. A preview loads automatically when its project is selected and the preview is visible; you don’t need to click inside it for a connection to be made.

On phones and tablets, Caitlin Byk and Impact Lab display static screenshots and their live-preview toggle is unavailable. You can visit the actual site using “Open website.” On larger screens, their live previews can load automatically when selected and visible.

Loading a preview connects your browser to that website and its service providers. They may receive your IP address, browser and device information, referring-site information, and activity within the preview. They may also load videos, set or access cookies, or run their own analytics and other tracking, subject to browser restrictions and their own privacy policies. Websites with Ryan does not control those settings.

“Show screenshot” stops the current live preview and displays a static image. Switching projects or scrolling the preview out of view also removes the active embed. These actions do not undo information already transmitted or delete cookies already set. Your browser’s cookie and tracking controls may limit third-party collection. Opening a project’s website takes you to that site under its own privacy policy.

The Organic Nail & Spa preview is a concept hosted with this portfolio, rather than the salon’s official website. Following its external booking or other links connects you to the relevant provider.

This site also loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Font requests send Google information such as your IP address, requested font, and browser request headers. See Google’s privacy policy.

How I use it

• To reply to your inquiry and prepare a quote
• To work with you if we start a project together
• To keep records of our conversation, as any business does

I won’t add you to a mailing list unless you ask to be added.

Who I share it with

I don’t sell your personal information, and I don’t share it for targeted advertising. Your information is handled by the services that run this site and my email:

• Netlify, which hosts the website and receives form submissions
• My email provider, where I receive and answer your messages

These providers handle inquiry information under their applicable terms and privacy policies. Google Fonts and the embedded websites separately receive browser information when their content loads, as explained above. Google processes optional analytics information after you accept, as explained above. I may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long I keep it

I keep inquiries for up to 2 years, or longer if we work together and the records are needed for the project, taxes or contracts. You can ask me to delete them at any time (see below).

Your choices and California rights

You can ask me to:

• Tell you what personal information I have about you
• Correct anything that’s wrong
• Delete your information

To make a request, contact me through email at ryannicholashall@gmail.com, or the project form on the Websites with Ryan website. I’ll confirm the request came from you, usually by replying to the email address you used, and respond within 45 days. I won’t treat you differently for making a request.

“Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control

This site keeps its Google Analytics tag off when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track (DNT: 1). I don’t sell inquiry information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. These signals do not, by themselves, stop embedded client websites or Google Fonts from loading; those providers apply their own practices. Cookie settings controls this portfolio’s Analytics only.

Children

This site is for businesses and isn’t directed to children under 16. I don’t knowingly collect information from children.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). No method of sending information over the internet is perfectly secure, so please don’t send passwords or payment details through the form.

Changes to this policy

If I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top of this page. Big changes will also be noted on the home page.
